See No Evil: Meditating on Violence and Censorship Through the Creation of a Television Pilot

Abstract

See No Evil exemplifies integration of multiple liberal arts disciplines to create an entertaining as well as intellectually stimulating project. See No Evil is a television pilot for a series that follows government agent Peraline Eches, who discovers that her government secretly gives its citizens medication that prevents them from seeing violent acts, therefore creating the illusion of a violence-free world. When Peraline realizes that this ruse led her to believe she was helping individuals when in reality she was executing them, she must decide which way her moral compass should point, and if it is really better to be blissfully blind to violence. This project consists of the full pilot episode script, a trailer for the series, and teaser scenes for the first episode, as well as a detailed production journal tracking the creation of the script and select scenes, as well as an introduction detailing the academic framework for this creative project.
