dc.description.abstract | A collection of original poems composed over the past three semesters. Each began as a weekly study centered around an active detailed image. Most focus on natural subjects and play within the limits of rhyme or a syllabic structure. These poems were exercises to better understand the shape and sound of a piece. The challenge, fun, was to have a bubbling phrase. Then to sit and fiddle. Spin out certain parts. Taking bits that snagged. Coax them to a form. The objective was to get lines to hum in response, pluckable and precise. | en_US |
