No Place I've Slept in Will Ever Be Quite as Good

Abstract

The written portion of my thesis tracks the progression of my studio work and practice from the summer of 2012 to the spring of 2013. It culminates in an analysis of the relationships between the final sculptures included in the Senior Thesis Exhibition and a brief suggestion of future directions. The complete body of work includes sculptures, lithographs, and small drawings. At first deliberating the literal versus selectively minimal translation of memories, later works recombined parts of memories to form shelters. This development provoked new questions about the ability to use memories to understand and respond to the present.
